Die Hoffnung schwindet, daß nach Kontakt mit diesem besonders bosartigen Coronavirus ein bleibender Schutz durch Antikörper entsteht. Es sieht nun eher so aus, daß die Pessimisten Recht haben, daß wie bei den für Schnupfen zuständigen Coronaviren die Antikörper auch hier recht schnell wieder verschwinden, so gibt es bekanntlich Leute die mehr als viermal im Leben Schnupfen bekamen von den 4 Schnupfenvirenvarianten. Das wäre ein glücklicher Zufall, wenn nicht nur bei denen, sondern auch bei Covid andere Bestandteile des Immunsystems wie T-Zellen nicht auch noch versagen.
Eine britische Studie hatte bei über 350000 Teilnehmern an der Wende 202006/07 einen positiven Antikörperstatus von fast 6.0% festgestellt, fast drei Monate später, 202009, waren es nur noch 4.4%, ein Rückgang um etwa ein Viertel in so kurzer Zeit. Bei den Infizierten mit schwachen oder keinen Erkrankungssymptomen wie auch bei Älteren war der Rückgang noch ausgeprägter. Damit ist das Herdenimmunitätskonzept, daß nach weltweit einigen 10 Megatoten wieder frohes Partyfeiern möglich ist, ziemlich gescheitert.

Tests on more than 365,000 people in England have shown that the antibody response to the virus that causes COVID-19 wanes over time. ... analysis of finger-prick tests carried out at home between 20 June and 28 September found that the number of people testing positive dropped by 26.5% across the study period, from almost 6% to 4.4%. ... over time there is a reduction in the proportion of people testing positive for antibodies. Testing positive for antibodies does not mean you are immune to COVID-19. It remains unclear what level of immunity antibodies provide, or for how long this immunity lasts. ... The decline was largest in people who didn’t report a history of COVID-19, dropping by almost two-thirds (64.0%) between rounds one and three, compared to a decrease of 22.3% in people who had an infection confirmed by lab testing. ...
