Facebookzensur gegen Gemälde "Women Lovers"

Beitrag von Calcit » Do 2.

BBC, 20170301, hat geschrieben: Facebook blocks nude painting by acclaimed artist
... Charles Blackman's oil work Women Lovers features two nude women resting on a bed beside a cat. Art broker Mossgreen tried to promote it on Facebook, but the social media network rejected it for "advertising adult products or services". Mossgreen chief executive Paul Summer said the decision was "ridiculous". "It's like going back to the 1950s. It's ridiculous to censor this sort of thing." ... Facebook said its decision was final, although Mossgreen has since reposted images of the work. "Such ads lead to negative user sentiment and we have zero tolerance towards such advertisements," Facebook said in a message.

http://ichef-1.bbci.co.uk/news/660/cpsp ... b5b499.jpg

So etwas Subversives gehört nun mal verboten.

Artlyst, 20170301, hat geschrieben: Facebook Bans Painting By Leading Australian Artist Charles Blackman For Indecency
... The painting has been pulled down by the social media giant in a gesture which undermines culture in a return to Victorian attitudes of morality and repression. ... “Charles Blackman is the most well-regarded and respected living Australian artist,” Mr. Summer [Mossgreen auction house] said.”Nobody said a single thing until Facebook suddenly decided it was going to offend somebody,” Mr. Summer lamented. ... This case is part of a growing list of strikes against Facebook’s no nudity policy which has been implemented to court business in the middle-east and other countries with repressive governments. A French teacher recently took Facebook to court after it suspended his account for posting an image painted by 19th Century artist Gustave Courbet. A Danish MP also had her account suspended for posting a photo of The statue of the Little Mermaid Denmark’s national symbol…What next The statue of David in Florence?

(im eingangs genannten BBC-Artikel steht fälschlich "Last month, a French teacher took Facebook to court after it suspended his account for posting an image of a nude woman painted by 19th Century artist Gustave Courbet."
viewtopic.php?f=24&t=4860 , 20160105 Kopenhagener Meerjungfrau

CNN, 20170105, hat geschrieben: Facebook banned Neptune statue photo for being 'explicitly sexual'
... the mid-sixteenth century fountain of Neptune stands in the Piazza del Nettuno in Bologna. Facebook appeared to have taken offense at the disrobed Roman god, asking Italian writer Elisa Barbari to remove it from her Facebook page, "Stories, curiosities and views of Bologna" ... Barbari had tried to use a photo from her personal collection but upon upload faced what appeared to be an automatic prohibition, deeming the image "explicitly sexual." Undeterred, Barbari challenged the decision and received another emailed statement seen by CNN in which Facebook defended its initial ban, citing a violation of advertising guidelines. "The use of images or video of nude bodies or plunging necklines is not allowed, even if the use is for artistic or educational reasons." ... "The statue is shown from behind, not even as a close up, it's in the distance. It's ridiculous," Barbari tells CNN. ... "I've been waiting for an apology for 6 long days, but at the end they came from Facebook last night. They specify that I can use the photo of the Neptune for future posts ... I'll just have to try," she said. ... Last September, the social media giant caused headlines after banning the iconic "Napalm girl" from the Vietnam War for a violation on images of naked children. But reversed its decision after public outcry over the image's historical importance. ...

It's like going back to the 1950s.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-03-14/a ... ny/7244982 (20160314, Aboriginal women perform at public ceremony)

ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation), 20160314, hat geschrieben: Facebook suspends users over 'nude' photo of Aboriginal women in traditional dress
Facebook has suspended the profiles of people who shared an article about Aboriginal feminism, because it contains a photograph of two Indigenous women in traditional attire. Facebook does not allow bare breasts in posts. Celeste Liddle, a feminist and freelance author, gave the keynote speech at the Queen Victoria Women's Centre's annual International Women's Day address ... Ms Liddle has launched a petition, aimed at getting Facebook to review its policies and make them more culturally inclusive. Ironically, users who share the petition are also facing suspensions. ... [Ms Liddle said] "But funnily enough that petition's also been banned on Facebook, or been taken down from some posts, because I did include the picture that New Matilda had used within their original news report to show what it was that Facebook is actually banning." ... But Facebook has defended its action. In a written statement, a company spokesperson said, ... "The reason we restrict the display of nudity is because some audiences within our global community may be sensitive to this type of content — particularly because of cultural background or age." ... The statement concludes by suggesting that users share Ms Liddle's speech without the accompanying photograph.

http://www.smh.com.au/digital-life/digi ... mk2ws.html (20150413, Facebook pulls clip for ABC show '8MMM', claiming images of Aboriginal women breached nudity policy)

BBC, 20170307, hat geschrieben: Facebook 'failed to remove sexualised images of children'
... The chairman of the Commons media committee, Damian Collins, said he had "grave doubts" about the effectiveness of its [Facebook's] content moderation systems. Mr Collins' comments come after the BBC reported dozens of photos to Facebook, but more than 80% were not removed. ... When provided with examples of the images, Facebook reported the BBC journalists involved to the police and cancelled plans for an interview. ... Mr Collins said it was extraordinary that the BBC had been reported to the authorities when it was trying to "help clean up the network". ... The BBC first asked Facebook for an interview about its moderation system in late-2015, and repeated the request following this follow-up investigation. The social network's director of policy Simon Milner agreed to be interviewed last week, on condition the BBC provided examples of the material that it had reported, but had not been removed by moderators. The BBC did so, but was reported to the UK's National Crime Agency as a consequence. ...

Gar nichts!
